The Lenovo Skylight smartbook will feature an ARM-based processor from Qualcomm. The Qualcomm Snapdragon platform enables 720p HD video playback, always-connected internet access (meaning you can receive emails and other notifications even when the device is folded up and placed in your bag), and other features designed to blur the lines between mini-laptops and cellphones.

Notion Ink has launched Adam—the world’s first 10.1-inch tablet with Pixel Qi display. Pixel Qi is a display made from standard LCD material, but only uses half the power of a normal LCD. It also has an e-paper mode usually seen on e-Book Readers. This tablet runs on Android and is powered by Nvidia’s Tegra processor. The Adam will have 3G enabled and should pack a Tegra T20 processor. It will have 1080p playback, WiFi, Bluetooth, a 10.1″ screen, AGPS, accelerometer, digital compass, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, and water sensor. There will be a 3 MP autofocus camera and either a 16 GB or 32 GB SSD. Notion Ink brags an astounding 8 hours of video playback or 16 hours of browsing on one full battery charge.

Sharp has announced a smartbook called the NetWalker PC-Z1. The PC-Z1 has a 5-inch touchscreen display with 1024 x 600 resolution. It is powered by an 800MHz Freescale i.MX515 CPU & 512MB RAM. It only comes with 4GB of flash storage, but it also has a microSDHC card slot for further 16GB expansion. It runs on Ubuntu 9.04 with a boot time of just 3 seconds.

Other features include a QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi (b/g), two USB ports and a claimed 10-hour battery life. The PC-Z1 is a very compact mini-smartbook measuring just 24.8mm at its thickest point (dimensions: 161.4 x 108.7 x 19.7-24.8mm). It also weighs just 409g.

It has built in WiFi, bluetooth, GPS and runs on Marvel 624MHz processor which means only one thing to us – this baby should be fast! (which it is not, unfortunately) Unlike most of the Android MIDs, this MID can also function as a USB host, which means that you can plug-in your standard USB mouse or keyboard and it should work without a hitch. It is available in black, white and pink.

The Toshiba AC100-114 smartbook will be powered by the Android 2.1 operating system, where it will feature an NVIDIA Tegra T20 processor that handles 1080p video playback via HDMI with aplomb. Apart from that, the AC110-114 also comes with 512MB RAM and a 16GB solid state drive to keep things nimble and lightweight. Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity ensures you have avenues to stay connected to the Internet, while an SDHC memory card reader lets you increase its storage space further. The three-cell battery ought to be good enough for up to 5 hours of operation at best, and its weight of less than 2lbs shouldn’t place too much of a strain on your shoulders when traveling. Hopefully Toshiba will see this to completion and not just leave us teased halfway.
